Support

Answers to the questions that come up most.

Can't find what you need? Send us a message — or write to support@relayo.tv. Either way, include your macOS or iOS version, your TV model, and what you were doing when it went wrong. That usually tells us enough to help.

On iPhone there's a faster route: Settings → Report a problem in the app opens an email with a technical log attached, so we can see what happened without guessing.

Will it work with my TV?

Works

  • Chromecast, all generations
  • Google TV
  • Android TV with Chromecast built-in
  • Sony, Philips, TCL, Hisense, Sharp, Toshiba smart TVs
  • Nvidia Shield
  • Google Nest Hub

Doesn't work

  • Apple TV
  • Samsung TVs
  • LG TVs
  • Roku
  • Amazon Fire TV

The rule of thumb: if your TV or box mentions Chromecast built-in somewhere in its settings or on the box, Relayo will find it.

Common problems

My TV doesn't show up

Work through these in order:

The picture freezes or stutters

This is almost always the network struggling to keep up. Open Settings and set quality to Automatic — Relayo will then lower the bitrate on its own when Wi‑Fi gets busy, instead of freezing.

If you picked 4K, try 1080p. 4K works on some devices and not others, and it needs a strong connection.

Netflix and Disney+ show a black screen

Streaming services protect their content, and the system blocks it from being captured — on Mac and on iPhone alike. This isn't something Relayo can work around; the restriction is in the system, not in the app.

Everything else mirrors normally: your browser, presentations, photos, local video files.

My MKV file won't play

MKV and AVI can't be opened by macOS or iOS, so Relayo can't read them either. Converting to MP4 solves it — most free converters handle this in a minute.

MP4 and MOV files work directly. If the video inside uses an unusual codec, Relayo converts it while playing.

There's a delay when mirroring

Around three seconds, yes. That's how this kind of streaming works and it can't be removed entirely.

It's fine for video, presentations, photos and browsing. It isn't suitable for gaming or anything where you need the screen to respond instantly.

I hear the sound twice (Mac)

Open Settings and turn on Mute this Mac while casting. Sound then plays only through the TV.

If the switch is greyed out, your current audio output doesn't support muting from apps — some external audio devices don't.

Mirroring won't start on iPhone

iOS starts screen broadcasts through its own picker. Tap Mirror screen in Relayo, then choose Relayo in the sheet that appears and press Start Broadcast. There's a three second countdown before it begins.

If nothing happens after that, the TV was probably lost between picking it and starting the broadcast. Go back, scan again, and retry.

Privacy

Relayo collects nothing. No account, no servers, no analytics. Your screen and files travel directly from your Mac or iPhone to your TV over your own network and never leave your home.
