Relayo › Play a video file on your TV

Play a video file on your TV from iPhone or Mac

For films and home videos, sending the file is better than mirroring: full quality, no visible delay, and full playback controls in your hand.

How it works

Instead of copying your screen, Relayo sends the video itself to your Chromecast or Google TV, which plays it directly. The picture stays as sharp as the original, and you control playback from your iPhone or Mac.

Send a video in 3 steps

  1. Open Relayo and pick your TV.
  2. Choose a video. On iPhone, pick from your photo library or Files. On Mac, choose Play a file.
  3. Control playback — play, pause, scrub and skip 10 seconds — from the app. On Mac you can also use the menu bar.

Questions

Is casting a file better than screen mirroring?

For videos, yes. The file plays in its original quality with no visible delay, and you control playback from the app.

Why won't my MKV file play?

iOS and macOS can't open MKV or AVI files, so Relayo can't read them either. Converting them to MP4 with any free converter solves it.

Can I play 4K videos?

If your TV and Chromecast support 4K and the format, the file plays as-is. Otherwise it is converted to 1080p automatically.
